As soon as I heard this news I thought about Domino’s Pizza. Wait a minute, why would a thought about Domino’s Pizza enter my mind when Pizza Hut has created the ultimate chocolate chip cookie? It’s because of the commercial “Failure is an Option.”

In that ad, Domino’s Pizza employees talk about some of their failures because they know failure means the company is trying new things. Ten seconds into the ad, Domino’s Pizza Chef Roxane Swamba feels a bit of shame when Andy Wetzel, Director of Brand Innovation at Domino’s says, “Remember the pizza cookie?” The camera flashes onto Roxane in the Domino’s Pizza kitchen laboratory and she says with a deadpan delivery, “I don’t want to talk about it.”

Well, fast forward to 2014 and the Pizza Cookie from Pizza Hut is here. It’s a new idea, well, sort of. But at least Pizza Hut is trying. It sounds like they’ve done a lot of research on millenials and millenials want a pizza cookie. We’ll see in a couple years if the pizza cookie from Pizza Hut partner Hershey’s is still around. It sells by itself for only $5.99 and with a pizza order for only $4.99.
Sounds like a deal I can devour.
