Grimaldi's Pizzeria at origianl location

Grimaldi’s Pizza is originally from Brooklyn, New York (pictured above). Specifically, their original store was located underneath the Brooklyn Bridge on Fulton Street. They have moved to a new location down the street with more seating where they still carry on the great brick oven pizza making tradition. They have since expanded and opened up many locations right here in Texas.

My first contact with any Grimaldi’s location happened on Veterans Day. On a day to celebrate American veterans, PizzaSpotz.com partnered with Ford Motor Company and Grimaldi’s in Grapevine to help feed our U.S. combat veterans. We partnered with a few pizzerias this day, and we are thankful for the Grapevine Grimaldi’s being involved.

After getting back to the home office after our first delivery of the day to the American Legion post near Love Field, I set out to find a pizzeria to feed veterans at the Grapevine VFW Post. After only two or three calls, I reached out to Grimaldi’s and Alex, their GM.

I told Alex PizzaSpotz had partnered with Ford Motor Company and that we were delivering free pizza to vets today in our 2014 Titanium Ford Fiesta. His response was a quick, friendly and to the point, “Just find out how many pizzas you need and give me a call back.”

I did as he said and one hour later we were at Girmaldi’s ready to load the car with pizzas. I’d never eaten at Grimaldi’s and before loading the car, Alex showed me just how delicious their pizzas looked. Oh my!!! It was love at first sight.

Alex and his assistant Daniel loaded our car and away we went. But we didn’t get away before Alex gave me one of his business cards with the most wonderful words written on the back, “1 Free Pizza.”

The veterans in Grapevine were extremely thankful for Grimaldi’s and the Ford Motor Company for making supper at the VFW Post a grand event.

In fact, I received this in my email the day after Veterans Day:

Dear Brian,

We at VFW POST 10454 want to thank you, Ford and Grimaldis for the delivery of pizzas on Veterans Day to our combat veterans. The pizza was delicious, and the heartfelt generosity was above and beyond. All of the members were touched by your generosity.

Thanks again for making our day.
